Calling all public servants
No, not to leak, but to join me in a course on Intelligence and National Security
Dear Readers,
This message is just for public servants working in or near the S and I community.
I wanted to make sure you are aware of a course I offer (restricted to government officials) on Intelligence and National Security.
The course has been running for about 15 years now and was originally co-taught with Greg Fyffe, a retired ADM and head of the PCO’s Intelligence Assessment Secretariat.
I have great fun with it. It is not a standard training course but a critical thinking course, designed to offer some new insights into the challenges of intelligence and national security in our fraught geopolitical environment. It is open to officials at all levels and with all degrees of experience.
The course feature presentations from me and, even better, from a host of guest experts. It also allows for case studies and student-led sessions.
Your respective Manager/Director/DG/ADM/DM should be aware of the course and hopefully supportive, even in times of straightened training budgets.
Further information can be had from the Balsillie Executive Institute (BEI) website, at:
https://balsillieinstitute.ca
The summer session runs from July 22 to August 2 in the mornings, 9-12, and is taught online.
Come one, come all. Fair warning (as they say in auction houses)—Registration is capped at 25 participants and admission is based on a first-come, first served basis.
Cyril, thanks. The course is restricted to govt employees to allow for relatively open discussions. That would not be possible if journalists were in the mix. I once offered a course on national seciuity for journalists, but the problem is that however interested they might be newsrooms wouldn't pay for it!
Why is this restricted to govt employees. This might fit journalists also. Perhaps it would provide a better framework for their evaluation of information they come across.
