America is a shameful ally. The world is noticing.

Thanks for this ongoing analysis. Very helpful in understanding what is really happening.

We all need to let go of the way things have been these last 80 years or so and respond to what the Americans are doing and saying. Stop with the outrage and get focused on dealing with the way things are. America wants out of global alliances, seeing them as impediments to their current interests. With an active war in Europe, the vacuum left will be considerable and the Europeans must move into it before the Russians can take advantage. The penny has dropped this weekend and their window is narrow. I’m glad the Europeans are meeting tomorrow. We’ll see where they land.

I agree with you but I would qualify the term "Americans". Trump only has the support of a minority of Americans and a much larger percentage of them are as horrified by all of this as we are. I think this number will grow as his domestic policies start really hurting the people who voted for him. We do have to prepare for the worst but let's try and avoid alienating our allies. Ideally they will take care of the problem from within.

I agree with you and truly hope you are right.

But it is, for anyone who is not a citizen of the USA, America that is going about breaking the world order. Regardless of how many voted for this administration.

You might need a name change and new branding after all this. 😉 All kidding aside, I hear you. And as much as it pains me to see this happening, and to know that righting this ship could mean a new civil war in your country, it must feel so much worse on your side of the border. I’m very sorry.
