Mr Wark, thank you so much for your logical, step by step and insightful summary that helps lay out the timeline, linkages, and what is known based on reports and informants and what is speculative or at least nor supported by the “evidence” cited. This is most helpful. The whole situation is serious but confusing and way too politicized with so many conflicting agendas.

Prof. Wark, thank you for writing such a thoroughly researched essay. You need to make one correction, though. Ng Weng Hoong is male, not female. His surname is Ng because he has a non-anglicized name. In many parts of Asia, the surname appears first (as I'm sure you know). Ng is a brilliant journalist and I was very happy to publish his articles when I was editor of the Georgia Straight newspaper in Vancouver.

Wesley, I appreciate the heavy lift you’ve done parsing this reporting. A real public service.
