All true — your revelation (humorously executed even though some miss that aspect) except for the graphic which should show the flag displayed back then — and it was not the 1965 (new) flag as you likely know.
All good, except for: "The Kraken players may be seized as hostages or drafted to bolster the Montreal Canadiens in their playoff run." Substitute "Vancouver Canucks". We have had enough of pandering to Quebec out here on the Pacific Coast.
Just a thought, though. I expect that the Canadian military in 1920 was more numerous than today and, given that the historic army and the current army probably use precisely the same weapons, I suspect that the "historians" would be able to out perform our current lot.
The US 34th Infantry Division is a US Army National Guard formation headquartered outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota, with units drawn from several states in the area. This formation, made up of part-time soldiers from all walks of life, has more equipment, better equipment, and better group or collective (not better individual) training than the Canadian Army. They have modern tanks that work. We don't. They have several battalions of field artillery. We don't. They have short-range air defence weapons. We don't. They have modern engineering equipment. We don't. They have modern electronic warfare equipment. We don't. They have trained at the battalion, brigade and divisional levels. We can't. What I am implying is that a single National Guard division could take Canada in a fair fight.
Good grief! Now you’ve joined the ninnyverse along with Elizabeth May, etc. The intro was more than a little over-the-top and not in a good way. As for the “don’t really read” swipe…your boy, Trudeau doesn’t read, doesn’t think about monetary policy, and isn’t even patriotic. Glass houses, Mr. Wark, glass houses. ( And for the record, I’m not a Trump fan.)
Wow. You obviously don’t understand Trump or MAGA if you think people taking his threats seriously are “ninnies”. I assure you that I’m not and I take his threats very seriously indeed.
But I shouldn’t be surprised, the “your boy, Trudeau” shot was a dead giveaway. You’re one of those Canadians whose hatred for the soon to be former PM eclipses anything else and ensures you’re not capable of rational discussion. Your activity feed says all I need to know about you.”Not a Trump fan…”. LOL Maybe sit this one out.
Not a chance. Nothing is eclipsed, including my understanding that Trump is unpredictable. That does not mean Canadians have to lose their minds and start sounding like him. I do, indeed loathe Trudeau, his narcissism, cronyism, and truth-deficient behaviour.
I see. So, your answer- because it suits your far right ideology (I’ve seen your feed) - is to roll over, say nothing, and simply go along as Trump destroys our economy. But Trudeau was much, much worse, right so we’d better let him?
Good lord. Hyperpartisans and ideologues like you will destroy this country,
1) If you see me as far right, your eyesight is severely impaired; 2) nowhere have I suggested or even hinted that Canadians should roll over, or say nothing, or go along. 3) it is not “people like” me who expect honesty and ethics who are destroying this country. 4) you and I each get one vote and mine will not be influenced by huffing and puffing by you or Trump.
Things have changed the last 100 years but the one thing that hasn't changed is that Canada only exists because the US allows it to exist.
The US has 1 million+ troops, 12 aircraft carriers and F35's. They could part destroyers in Vancouver, Halifax and the mouth of the St Lawrence and literally starve Canada out.
To think that Canada could even dream of stepping onto American soil is so stupid it hurts. I know this is satire, but there are too many establishment Canadians who think this could actually happen. It's sad.
The number of delusional old stock Anglos as a percentage of the population is much lower nowadays as well.
Dear Mr Wark....Imperial Japan was on our side in the First World War. That was how they ended up with the South Seas Mandate (former Imperial german colonies granted to them by the League of Nations). Nice try though.
Thanks for a Saturday chuckle. We all need
This is the best response to the idiocy I've seen so far. Thank you!

Brilliant! Would not have forcast your humorous historical approach. Well done.
Awesome. We need a chuckle now and then as we try to face up to major problems. Thanks!

Thank you for the amusement.

Tell me if I have this right:
racist references to Pakistani rape gangs
reposts of far out conspiracies about Mark Garney
conspiracies involving Muslims
conspiracies involving BLM
Trudeau, Trudeau, Trudeau
You haven’t met a far-right position you haven’t grasped on to with both fetid hands. That means I need to stop posting to you.
Now.
Whew! Thank goodness!
